Gorilla Tracking in Bwindi Impenetrable  Forest National Park

Prepare yourself for an encounter with Bwindi's gentle giantsBwindi Impenetrable Forest boasts both mountain gorillas and chimpanzees - the only forest in Africa that can make this claim. It also hosts five other species of primates, 120 species of mammals, over 200 butterflies, and 348 birds.

On your way to the gorillas, your guide will point out signs of previous gorilla activity, including dung, nests, and chewed bamboo shoots.

The time taken to track the gorillas can be limited to between 2 and 8 hours, but can change due to the animals' mobility. Your trek will be an exciting journey along forested slopes, entwined vines, bushes, and bamboo before you eventually reach the gorilla spot.

Once the gorillas have been located, your group will be allowed a maximum of one hour with them. This is a fantastic and privileged opportunity to get up close and personal with Uganda's very own 'Gorillas in the Mist'.

After the trek, head back to the starting point for a graduation ceremony and certification, and drive back to the lodge or Rushaga village for the Batwa Village experience.

The lake boasts a whopping 29 islands, some of which are historical and command breathtaking views. The historical islands of Lake Bunyonyi hold tales of ancient traditions and history. For example, Punishment Island was historically used as a place of exile for unmarried pregnant women, highlighting societal norms of the time. Other islands, such as Sharps and Bwama, also carry rich narratives; Bwama Island was once a leper colony established by missionary Leonard Sharp in the 1930s, and Sharps Island used to be the official home for the famous Dr. Leonard Sharp.
